We have had the pleasure of working with Mark on two projects: construction of a small home office and a deck/sauna/outdoor shower project. We loved working with him and would highly recommend him for any project – big or small. Mark involved us as much or as little as we wanted to be in every step, which I really appreciated as a woman. He was honest, forthcoming, and clear – there were no surprises in budget, cost, or finished product. He has an incredible attention to detail. For example, the interior window trim and trim over my office door (on two different walls) was not going to be at exactly the same height, so Mark built an additional level of trim himself so that all trim would be even and have the same design. He also went above and beyond his duties by advising us on several other small projects and enabling us to do some work ourselves by letting us borrow his tools. My kids and dog love him too!

I have worked with EcoArtisan Builders on several projects, including full house renovations and additions, and have found Mark Letizia to be a valuable asset in achieving successful projects. He is in tune with the client’s budget requirements while keeping on track with executing the project as it was designed. When options presented themselves during construction, Mark responded appropriately and involved the design professionals in the decision process. Collectively, solutions were achieved that maintained the original design aesthetic. When clients see the craftsmanship of EcoArtisan Builders and meet their former clients, it becomes apparent that Mark Letizia brings the extra care and passion to his projects that truly makes a difference.

We’ve all heard the horror stories about contractors that don’t show up on time or accept your down payment and disappear. But what about the builders that itemize just about every expense, set up a construction calendar at the beginning of the project, and then push you to be on time, all while doing excellent work? That’s the kind of team you get with Mark Letizia and EcoArtisan Builders. My wife and I hired Mark to redo our painfully old kitchen and a nearby powder room, and couldn’t be happier with our choice.

We were looking for an updated, mid-century modern style, and Mark completely understood our aesthetic, offering great ideas and suggestions even as we began the contractor selection process. Throughout the entire three-month project, he answered every question, walked us through every decision, and pushed us to stay on time and on target. Mark is, quite simply, one of the most professional contractors (and businessmen) I have ever had the pleasure to work with. In short, if you hire EcoArtisan Builders, you’ll only hear about those horror stories and not have to live them.

I worked with Mark on a whole house remodel with emphasis on energy upgrades, a new kitchen and bath. From the beginning Mark was a joy to work with. His knowledge and experience were evident throughout the remodel process. His estimates were easy to understand and the timeline was reasonable. Mark took good care of our home throughout the process, paying attention to its security and knowing who was entering and exiting. He was at the job site daily and accessible to answer questions. His sub-contractors were all professional, personal and provided high quality craftsmanship.

The remodel was completed on time and for the most part on budget. The experience which could have been overwhelming was actually a pleasure. I would strongly recommend hiring Mark for any large or small job.

We hired Mark to remodel our main living space because of his commitment to green building techniques and materials. We added a 12x12 dining room and totally reworked the kitchen. We added new drywall to the living room and hall to the bedrooms and new bamboo floors throughout the house. We found Mark to be diligent and punctual. His sub-contractors all did their best to create what we wanted, showing up on time and working quickly to finish their part so the next phase could begin. This was Mark orchestrating the entire project. Mark kept us within our budget and we are extremely happy with the outcome. We highly recommend EcoArtisan Builders and their inspiration Mark Letizia.

Mark Letizia of EcoArtisan Builders has completed several projects for me. First he managed a major remodel of my older home in Point Loma, including a new kitchen, new flooring throughout several rooms, and revising the main floor to open it up from several small rooms (entry/kitchen/living and dining room) to a more contemporary open and flowing plan. Subsequent to the major remodel, Mark remodeled two bathrooms and has done several smaller projects as well, including outdoor decking and patio work.

In every situation Mark's work has been excellent -- he is highly professional and it was a pleasure having him work on my home. Mark is very responsible and can be trusted to do beautiful work on any size project.

Mark and his team at EcoArtisan Builders were so great and a pleasure to work with. The quality of their work was fantastic. Their subs were every bit as professional and caring as Mark is. His attention to detail is great. Mark is very hands on and was at our home almost every day. Not only did he stick to his cost proposal he completed the job on time. He also worked really well with our designer. When he was done we had a couple of small issues that needed to be fixed and he came and corrected them right away. We would definitely use EcoArtisan and Mark for any future renovations or construction we do.

We were so pleased with the performance of this company that we hired them for a second project (replace deck and potting sink). Gave accurate estimates about time to do project and met all deadlines. Excellent subcontractors. Always on site to work with subcontractors. Original plan was to replace front wooden steps with Trex, but when old steps were removed, all underlying wood was rotten. They knew exactly what to do, and we modified the original plan. I would gladly hire them again should we need other work done on our home.

EcoArtisan Builders just completed our 1500 square foot whole-house remodel project for my wife and me. We were immediately comfortable with Mark and impressed with his open communication style, his "green" building credentials, and respect for the project's design (by David Underwood of Underwood Architecture/Design who also helped connect us with Mark.) The end result is our stunning new home which far exceeds our expectations. Just as importantly, the process of working with Mark was enjoyable, personal, professional, and rewarding at every step. I've worked with numerous builders in the past, and this is a really foreign experience for me -- a builder that cared as much about my project as I did! After the initial meeting we visited two of his recently-completed projects similar in scope to ours, and were again impressed with the quality, on-time completion, and obvious satisfaction of his clients.

The bid was transparent and competitive, and also included a list of modest options to consider, almost all of which made sense for our project. The proposed schedule was faster than other bids which also save us additional thousands of dollars in temporary housing and storage costs. Overall, the total cost of the project was so competitive that we were able to include several upgrades to materials and finishes that we thought would be out of reach given our budget." During the entire project from demolition to completion the job site was impressively clean at the end of each day. Mark found and resolved many important issues that, in my experience, other builders would have ignored or not even noticed. And when issues did arise, the team (client, architect/designer, and builder) together worked out the best solution to preserve the design intent while minimizing impact to cost and schedule.
